Advantage flea control is made by Bayer Animal Heath, a division of the Bayer Company. Bayer is the third largest pharmaceutical company worldwide and has been in business since it was founded in 1863. The North American Animal Health division is based out of Shawnee, Kansas. A flea preventative, like Advantage, should be used by pet owners to not only kills fleas but to hinder the transmission of disease and parasites caused by them.

Advantage for dogs is sold in four sizes. The dog sizes are 10 pounds and under, 11 to 21 pounds, 21 to 55 pounds and 55 pounds and over.

Advantage comes in packages with either 4 or 6 doses. Other variations of Advantage Flea Control Products include Advantage Muti and K9 Advantix. Advantage Muti, available for dogs or cats, provides flea and heartworm prevention and treats and prevents intestinal parasites. The cat version as treats and prevents earmites. K9 Advantix is a product made for dogs that kills and repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. Other products available similar to Advantage are Promeris, Frontline and Biospot. Promeris and Frontline are topical flea and tick preventatives. Biospot is a topical flea prevention. Advantage Flea Control Products kills fleas quickly and stops biting fleas in 3 to 5 minutes. It also kills 99% of fleas within 12 hours. Ninety-nine percent of flea larvae are killed within 20 minutes. Advantage Flea Control Products has a waterproof formula that continues working for a month after application.
